About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Sustainment Command, 406th Army Field Support Brigade located in Fort Meade, Maryland.
TERM Appointment: This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. It may be made permanent without further competition (See additional information section for more on this.)
Duties
Perform pre-award survey for pack and crate contractor warehouse and equipment, in accordance with current regulations or directives.
Ensure inventory is complete and report on damage and missing items is accurate.
Review segregated item storage practices for articles such as rugs, sofas, and pianos
Inspect to ensure that van and packing material are clean and correct sizes of containers are used for each type of item.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Driver’s License: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- Term Trial Period: Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilizing office automation database to create, retrieve, and analyze information of documents, spreadsheets, memoranda and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: providing reports of work status and any issues to the transportation office; applying transportation guidance, procedures, and operations during transportation process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assists with interpreting regulations to pack and containerize personal property shipments; assists with identifying or inspecting deficiencies in packing methods and requirements to determine extent and severity of any potential problem areas; performs safety inspections in order to qualify carriers for sponsorship of personal property shipments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06)
NOTE: At the GS-6 and GS-7, you must meet the specialized experience listed above. There is no education substitution at these grades.
