You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the OFFICE OF COUNSEL of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
This is not a high-grade position; therefore, this position's salary may not exceed the GS-13, Step 10 without high grade authorization.
Duties
You will provide expert-level case management, legal research, writing and other paralegal support under the supervision of the Command Counsel on
matters across the Department of the Navy’s Office of General Counsel legal practice portfolio.
You will examine case files and determines issues and sufficiency of evidence or documentation.
You will search for legal precedents and analyzed their applicability to include the preparation of digest of points on law involved.
You will analyze and evaluate the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative and judicial decision, opinions, and determinations on present cases.
You will establish and maintain litigation case files, complete with filing deadlines, compile the evidentiary administrative record to accompany litigation
reports, and pleadings.
You will receive, review and control incoming and outgoing correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, litigation reports and other legal documents.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11 and GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing legal research, analysis or preparation of legal documents in support of attorneys. (i.e.: litigation, government ethics, business and commercial law, fiscal law, civilian personnel law, labor law).
