This position is located at the Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore Service Unit, Oklahoma City Area Office - Indian Health Services. The computer specialist functions in collaboration with other members of the local, regional, and national MIS team, to insure the total availability of computer systems to end users at the Service Unit.
Duties
Incumbent serves as a local specialist on hardware, software, telephony application programs and assists in the support of the hospital LAN. At the direction of the CIO, install new IT technology, provide consultation, technical support, train end users, and be on call when needed.
Supports and advises the service unit staff to insure the total availability of the computer systems including PC's, servers, printers, telecommunication devices, switches, cabling and licenses.
Incumbent assists the CIO in the performance of regularly scheduled system management and maintenance procedures designed to insure the integrity of the database in the service unit.
Works in concert with the CIO, Area Office, and Headquarters division to implements the integration of applicable application programs into existing work patterns. Shares responsibility for on-the-job computer training, staff development, orientation and retaining as needed in systems.
Participates in the maintenance of the IT equipment inventory.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Note: When this qualification standard is used, agencies must have documentation based on a job analysis to substantiate that the position requires IT-related education and/or IT-related experience upon entry.
Use the Information Technology Management Series, 2210 (Alternative B) qualification standard if the GS-5 or GS-7 (or equivalent) level position does not require IT-related education or IT-related experience upon entry.
GS-9 and Above (or equivalent): Use this qualification standard for all GS-9 and above (or equivalent) positions.
Basic Requirements
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

GS-11 (or equivalent): Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree
Experience
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate
GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-11: Working experience in a health care information technology environment, installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware and software components such as but not limited to electronic health records systems or electronic health record systems. Provide assistance and technical support to either businesses or consumers that are experiencing technical, hardware, or software issues. Educate people, answer questions, and troubleshoot any related problems about technology-based products and services. Manage user account, install software, and deal with onsite, modified, cleaned, or repaired computer software and hardware; conduct on-going testing of existing equipment and software programs. Test new software or hardware product to ensure the products are compatible with existing products and systems. Provide training to the employees of any new or upgraded products.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
