Duties
This announcement is open to All U.S. Citizens reside or are currently employed in the Washington, DC local commuting area, which includes the entire area within the boundaries of Washington, DC; the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's, and Washington; and the city of Baltimore and all cities in the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the counties listed above; the Virginia counties of Albemarle, Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Greene, King George, Loudoun, Madison, Orange, Prince William, Spotsylvania, and Stafford; and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, and all cities existing in the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of these listed Virginia counties; Adams County in Pennsylvania; Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson counties in West Virginia.
As a SMALL BUSINESS SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties:- In the role as the Junior Small Business Strategic Communications & Advocacy Support Specialist you are responsible for assisting in the execution of key plans with a focus on raising awareness of Small Business programs and initiatives, fostering a culture of internal and external collaboration and information sharing in the promotion, growth, success and knowledge of small businesses and industry partners across the DCSA ecosystem.
- As the Junior Small Business Strategic Communication & Advocacy Support Specialist, you are responsible for assisting in building and maintaining a local network of collaborative partnerships in the promotion of maximizing small business participation across the DCSA enterprise.
- Within this role, you will assist with planning virtual webinars, providing internal and external Small Business event coordination, and developing and maintaining electronic mailing distribution listings.
- This position requires drafting and editing diverse informational materials pertaining to small business programs, incentives, goal achievement, and program objectives.
- Provide logistics, data reports, scheduling/calendar creation, and content optimization to both OSBP & IE Senior Leaders and Small Business Strategic Communication Team

Qualifications
Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG -07 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.
Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Specialized experience for this position includes: Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, plan and organize work, convey information, gather pertinent data, recognize, and identify solutions; Fundamental knowledge related to small business programs including HUBZone, WOSB, SDVOSB, SDB; A fundamental knowledge of federal socioeconomic categories.
