The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 425th Fighter Squadron/Plans and Programs Section.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the 425th Fighter Squadron/Plans and Programs Section. ensuring that information technology administration, personnel security, and antiterrorism duties comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents the 425th Fighter Squadron/Plans and Programs Section with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Performs administration of the personnel, industrial security, and antiterrorism programs for the 425th Fighter Squadron/Plans and Programs Section. Manages and administers Information Systems. Provides telephone control support to customers.

  • Work requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
  • Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS-0335, Computer Clerk and Assistant Series. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: The utilization of computer/information systems, personnel/industrial security, and automated data processing/networking standards, policies, and techniques to support computer systems; the application of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; the utilization of security forces reports/analysis functions of information, industrial, and personnel security concepts, principles, and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of security programs; the utilization of data content/output options for a variety of administrative, scientific and/or technical program applications that process on any of several multi-program operating systems; and planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-10 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of computer and information systems, personnel and industrial security, antiterrorism, telephone control, DoD and Air Force automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques, facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of security forces reports and analysis functions of information, industrial, and personnel security concepts, principles, and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of security programs in these areas. Knowledge of data content and output options for a variety of administrative, scientific and/or technical program applications that are process on any of several multi-program operating systems. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
