The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principal office assistant performing various clerical and administrative duties and administrative support to programs in an organization.
Duties
Performs various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization.
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports and other documents using a variety of word processing software.
Composes routine nontechnical correspondence such as instructions, office procedures, information, requests and letters.
Reviews and finalized documents, incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations and directives with minimal revisions.
Screens incoming communications to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other offices, or handled personally.
Maintains calendar, coordinates and schedules meetings and/or conferences in accordance with the supervisor's policies and priorities.
Communicates with coworkers, management, and other counterparts at various levels on clerical and procedural requirements, to coordinate work, communicate important information, and recommend solutions.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year, or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, at the next lower grade DU-01, or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes preparing a variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence including reports and other documents, proofreading and editing materials, performing time and attendance duties, managing administrative support programs, advising leadership and staff IAW regulations and policies, screening incoming communications and/or maintaining calendars and coordinating meetings.
OR
EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post two years above high school and general experience directly related to the work of this position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
