About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness (OASD(R)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (OUSD(P&R)). Reports to the Director, Military Education, who coordinates position leadership and guidance with the Chief Learning Officer, Office Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Education and Training (ODASD(FE&T)) within the OASD(R).
Duties
Provide guidance on military education requirements to DoD Components.
Manage and provide operational support to the military education team members who are focused on meeting the educational outcomes of the National Defense Strategy (NDS).
Develop strategies to improve DoD-wide education capabilities to support the goals of the NDS.
Update and write military education policy to include Funded Legal Education, Academic and Experiential Professional Development Opportunities, Funded Graduate Level Education for Military Officers, and Military Education.
Coordinate military education policy with the joint staff in matters related to joint outcomes based military education development and sustained activities through OSD military education working groups.
Develop symmetries and methodologies to assess military education capabilities to support senior DoD leadership decisions.
Provide operational support to the Director, Credentialing Program that includes MilGears and ICOOL websites and Service member tools.
Work with the DoD Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) office to identify data to support analysis of investments in education capabilities.
Requirements

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating military education programs, collaborating with stakeholders to address military education programs, providing guidance on military education requirements, preparing decision briefs or reports on matters impacting military education programs, and developing policy regarding military education programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
