You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the CYBERSECURITY SUPPORT DIVISION of PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY.

Duties

You will be responsible for supporting Cybersecurity Officers (CSOs) in executing, implementing, and monitoring the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) cybersecurity program as well as ensuring compliance of Range Information Systems. You will assist CSOs in managing security mechanisms that protect networks and information systems against hackers, breaches, viruses and spyware. You will provide support to identify and measure risks, and assist in identifying on-going resources for cybersecurity support.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area ISSO level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, implementing, and coordinating cybersecurity activities to ensure safety and compliance of Information Technology infrastructure and systems of an organization. Examples of cybersecurity activities are (1) managing security mechanisms that protect networks and information systems and (2) developing system level policies, technical diagrams, and assembling artifacts required for a Risk Management Framework package. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector implementing the required security requirements, regulations and policies to support information assurance programs. Examples of cybersecurity activities are (1) implementing security mechanisms that protect networks and information systems (2) developing system level policies, and assembling artifacts required for a Risk Management Framework package (3) implementing or devising security mechanisms that protect networks and information systems against hackers, breaches, viruses and spyware. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving to support information assurance programs. Basic Educational Requirements:

Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Education may be substituted specialized experience for GS-11 as follows:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Ph.D. Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
