Job opening: TRAVEL SPECIALIST

Salary: $68 405 - 88 926 per year

This position is part of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Office of Administration (OA), Corporate Travel & Relocation Division. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact to all agency travelers and is responsible for providing travel guidance, planning/arranging travel and reimbursement requests, and performing other travel-related duties.

Duties

Serves as the primary point of contact to all agency travelers and is responsible for providing travel guidance, planning, arranging, and processing and submitting reimbursement requests in an efficient and timely manner. Monitors travelers' requirements; implements established travel policies and procedures; provides E2 travel system and travel training; and resolves travel related problems. Arranges travel and provides support in the administration of a domestic and international travel program; coordinates domestic and international travel end-to-end as a centralized concierge service. Completes reimbursement vouchers for travelers and ensures that payments are processed timely. Plans, arranges, processes, and submits reimbursement requests in an efficient and timely manner and in compliance with Federal Travel Regulations and ensures that payments are processed timely. Facilitates international travel by interfacing with Department of State as needed on behalf of travelers to ensure that official passports are issued timely. Advises personnel on passport application process, oversees the preparation of letters of endorsement for passport applications, and executes the country clearance process for agency personnel. Reviews and ensures travel authorizations and vouchers are complete and in compliance with the Federal Travel Regulations and DFC's travel policy prior to approval. Ensures that expenses are correctly estimated, reimbursement types are correct, and necessary justifications for reservations outside of travel policy are provided. Requirements

Qualifications

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level). Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your experience coordinating domestic and international travel on behalf of customers using electronic travel systems; providing technical guidance on complex travel policies and procedures; approving travel authorizations and vouchers; determining travel entitlements and authorized methods of travel; and familiarity with the State Department's electronic Country Clearance System. OR B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include business administration, public administration, international business, management, etc. OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience as listed above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This announcement may be used to fill similar positions, if additional vacancies occur.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
