The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 and up to 32,000 pounds.
Duties
1. Drives one or more types of heavy trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, trash/garbage trucks or dump trucks, which are typically equipped with air brakes.
2. Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
3. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.
4. Maintains records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.
5. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operations Family located here.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
