Duties

You will conduct training that addresses financial planning for separation, short notice deployments, permanent change of station and transition from the military. You will interview clients to identify needs and concerns (e.g., career transition, interpersonal skills) to overcome obstacles and barriers. You will advise customers on work-life services programs (e.g., career, transition, relocation, personal financial management, employment, community life, emergency and crisis assistance, personal and family readiness). You will apply knowledge of social services delivery systems and concepts, principles, and theories relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting interviews to establish nature and extent of concerns and issues; 2) Providing assistance in developing goals and plans of appropriate referral services and options for family life issues; 3) Evaluating information to assess strengths, weaknesses, and needs of serviced population in order to establish program goals, objectives, and procedures; 4) Utilizing computer software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SITES) in order to collect, evaluate, create, and disseminate information while communicating effectively, both orally and in writing; and 5) Providing social service delivery systems within the military and civilian community for a command. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
