This position is part of the Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert technical management, oversight of innovative national-level projects, and general intelligence expertise to Counterintelligence (CI) Directorate elements at Headquarters and field offices across the laboratories, plants, and sites.

- This position has been designated as Special-Sensitive (High Risk) and requires a security clearance at the Q level. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- In addition, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance prior to entrance on duty; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- The incumbent is required to complete an initial Counterintelligence (CI) evaluation and on a recurring basis, which may include a CI-scope polygraph examination.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- Limited telework may be available based upon mission requirements of the position.
- This position is not included in a Bargaining Union.
- You must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Setting goals and deadlines to ensuring that the final product meets or surpasses the set standards.
Assisting with counterintelligence budget to guarantee thorough tracking and timely payments for counterintelligence operations.
Collaborating with leadership to identify obstacles in intra-directorate mission execution and provide suggestions for improvement.
Examining the operational procedures within the directorate and seeks ways to streamline or enhance their efficiency.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
While Time-in-Grade is not applicable, employees that hold excepted service positions are expected to have a minimum of 1 yr (52 weeks) of quality experience at the next lower grade level before receiving a promotion to a higher grade level.
