About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 30th Signal Battalion in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Duties
Serves as a Junior Network Administrator in the Local Network Enterprise Center (LNEC) for the 30th Signal Battalion North region.
Plans, conducts, controls, and coordinates varied studies and analysis to meet operational needs for network systems.
Manages operations, modifications, upgrades, and services for the Hawaii ICAN network (LAN/WAN CISCO and Foundry/Brocade routers and switches) systems.
Responsible for participating in the installation, maintenance, testing, evaluation, and repair of local and campus area networks, advanced network communication devices, and equivalent media links for the U.S. Army Garrison and Hawaii ICAN.
Provides technical assistance in the use and maintenance of network and network related software and facilities to LAN users to include informing users of new procedures, network capabilities, recent changes, and upgrades.

- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- Incumbent required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoDM 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program dated 15FEB2023.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid official U.S. Passport and state Driver's License.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
- This position requires a medical examination. The incumbent is required to lift 30 lbs.
- The approved base line certification for this task requirement is IAT Level II certification of DoDD 8571.01, and the incumbent must achieve IAT Level II certification within six months or less of entrance on duty.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Network):
Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes installing network infrastructure devices such switches, routers, or cables; reviewing or adhering to established organizational information technology policies or procedures; and performing technical data networking tasks or troubleshooting of network related issues.
The specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others;
(2) Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
