This position is located in the Department of Education (Ed), Office of Communications and Outreach (OCO), Press and Customer Relations Services office in Washington, DC. This position serves as a Public Affairs Specialist (PAS), Bilingual. The incumbent will assist in managing the language assistance program, to include providing information to internal and external customers in Spanish.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification RequirementsYou may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-12, if you possess the specialize experience. Specialized Experience for the GS-12
One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-11 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:
Experience developing and supporting the implementation of social media and press communications in Spanish and English for Educational programs.
Experience developing public information campaigns that affect education issues in Spanish speaking and multilingual communities that integrate press, social and digitalmedia strategies.
Experience implementing innovative communication techniques and building relationships with senior officials to reach Spanish speaking audiences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). Ability to develop and manage communications technologies, including social media and marketing platforms, to support the development of social media and press content focused on federal education programs and initiatives.
Skill in building relationships and developing plans to engage the media and advising executive level government officials.
Knowledge of communication strategies and campaigns for Spanish speaking audience’s and educational issues involving multilingual educators, parents, students,and communities.
Ability to analyze trends in education and communication of stakeholders in Spanish speaking communities and apply innovative communication techniques through the application of the Spanish language and translation.
