You will serve as a PLANNER AND ESTIMATOR (SHEET METAL MECHANIC/ AIRCRAFT) in the MRO PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will establish long-range plans for in-service or contracted work to verify sheet metal production work is completed according to schedule. You will develop alternate work methods for unusual or difficult sheet metal mechanic operations. You will complete composite repairs and corrosion control on aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with engineering approved processes. You will follow sheet metal shop safety guidelines or practices to avoid unnecessary exposure to hazards and injury.

Requirements

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Evaluate and plan repairs of metal structures and substructures for damage, cracks, corrosion, fatigue, and stress related to crash and battle-damaged aircraft, hard landings, and structural periodic maintenance inspections. 2) Interpret blue-prints, specifications, technical bulletins and directives, microfilm, Type Model Series (TMS) aircraft repair manuals and engineering instructions. 3) Develop new plans or programs based on minimal technical information. 4) Analyze plan progression and to adjust requirements, if needed, to assure that pre-determined goals are met. 5) Re-adjust workflow plans and schedules to begin implementation of a technical directive or process which is considered to be a safety of flight nature. 6) Plan workflow and estimates in-process time. 7) Coordinate proposed plans with Production personnel to ensure compatibility with routine shop assignments.
