Duties
Exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers.
Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on workload projections on a weekly or monthly basis.
Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, in accordance with
general work schedules, methods, and policies established by higher-level supervisors.
Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
Assigns work to individual workers by verbal or written instructions.
Monitors work in progress and inspects completed work to assure work order requirements.
Sets performance standards for subordinates and makes formal appraisals of their work performance.
Counsels employees and discusses informal complaints and grievances with workers and union representatives.
Initiates disciplinary actions as needed.
Maintains work reports and records.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Ability to Supervise (Screen Out Element): Assists with planning and organizing work activities for employees. Examples Include: Advises supervisor of problems involving disciplinary actions and counseling on conduct. Sets goals and deadlines for accomplishing work; gives instructions to employees on work procedures and safety.
