About the Position: This position is located with Public Health - West, Laboratory Division. Quality Assurance Section at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Serves as the facility manager, for the Department of Defense Food Analysis and Diagnostic Laboratory (DoD FADL), US Army Public Health Command – West.
Performs a variety of facility manager duties for DOD FADL.
Processes requests for minor construction, maintenance, and repair work.
Develops, prepares, and submits plans and specifications for major and minor modifications, alterations, renovations, or repairs to existing facilities and utility systems.
Serves as point of contact and in liaison capacity to contractors and construction personnel during their on-site inspections of projects.
Helps identify and eliminate safety hazards for staff and visitors in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is required.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Position may require heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- This is an Inclement Weather Essential position; you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes processing requests for minor construction, maintenance, and repair work; conducting inventory and disposing of equipment/property; and utilizing an automated system to develop, update and track an organizations reporting requirements.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
