You will serve as an AIRCRAFT ATTENDANT in the Air Operations Department of NAS PENSACOLA.

Duties

You will complete servicing check off forms as part of post flight services. You will check and replenish oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel, and other consumable fluids to service and maintain all types of aircraft. You will refuel aircraft while engines are operating (i.e., hot refuels). You will inventory and inspect airfield support tools before and after working on aircraft. You will comply with environmental rules and regulations when storing, using, handling, labeling, or disposing of hazardous aircraft materials and waste. You will inspect aircraft to determine if maintenance (e.g., checking fluids, replenishing oil, servicing landing gear struts or tires) is needed. You will perform daily inspections on vehicles and report any malfunctions to an airfield manager.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Aircraft Attendants must meet installation specific training/certification requirements relating to airfield safety (RAMP, AVOIC, etc.), hazardous material handling, and ground support equipment operations within 45 days of reporting for work.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performing gravity and pressure refueling procedures; 2) Functioning as observer during final operational checks prior to take off, utilizing safety practices and procedures; and 3) Serving as a member of the Bird/Animal Strike Hazard team to keep birds and other animals off runways. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
