About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command - 106th Signal Brigade in Miami, Florida.
Duties
Performs assignments as event mission lead, under the direction of a higher-level IT specialist, or independently.
Provides technical, tactical, and conceptual information and advice to the supervisor for all IT/IM matters relating to both the tactical and strategic levels of exercises, deployments, and contingency IT/IM requirements.
Coordinates with event POCs to ensure that the team understands and meets all event requirements for IT support to a high degree of customer satisfaction with respect to quality, punctuality, functionality, and reliability.
Analyzes current information system capabilities and identifies and recommends solutions for operational improvements.
Applies new developments to previously unsolvable problems that may influence the revision of the IT/IM architecture.
Conducts analyses and recommends resolution of complex issues affecting the support of exercises, deployments, and contingency missions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance eligibility with access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- Incumbent of this position must pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter according to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- Incumbent of this position must be willing and able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Incumbent of this position must complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification as outlined in DoDM 8140.03,
- Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program, dated 15 Feb 2023 or updated version and/or additional guidance within 6 months of appointment.
- Incumbent of this position is required to travel for duty (TDY) up to 50% of the time.
- Incumbent of this position must be able and willing to participate in the DOD/DA Immunization program, to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy, if deployed in the AOR.
- Incumbent of this position is designated as mission essential.
- Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the supervisor and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends;
- i.e., subject to recall to duty and mandatory overtime.
- Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall or emergency situations. Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to incumbent unless the supervisor instructs otherwise.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by 1) installing, configuring, and troubleshooting information technology equipment/systems (i.e. gathering data and performing diagnostic techniques to identify problems and deliver solutions) to restore hardware, software, networks, and systems; 2) providing information technology technical user support to identify/resolve issues; 3) providing help desk support to users by analyzing information technology issues to resolve basic equipment and software application problems; 4) demonstrating technical understanding of IT infrastructure, operations, and maintenance of IT and telecommunications systems and providing technical training to users.
