This position is located with the Commander Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Naval Station Newport, Newport RI. The purpose of this position is to supervise the functions and duties of assigned staff and assist in the effective scheduling, coordination and communication of food and beverage operations during their assigned shift.

Duties

In the absence of management, serves as duty manager to ensure the facility is functioning in a smooth, safe and efficient manner. Responsible for issuing, receiving and controlling cash receipts and change funds under custody. Verifies cash count of cash receipts and change funds turned in by individual cashiers. Determines and reports any cash overages/shortages. Upon arrival, checks the trouble log and informs facility manager of all problem areas. Notifies the Public Works Department (CPWD) or servicing maintenance department of any emergencies that may occur. Reviews work schedule, taking note of on-call personnel for emergency needs. Ensures the facility is open and/closed at the posted time and in a state of cleanliness both inside and out. Reviews the schedule of events and ensures the facility is prepared prior to the scheduled start time coordinating with the catering department. Assists with the administrative, maintenance and inventory functions of the facility. May coordinate the delivery of food and beverages from one facility to another. Maintains and performs check out/in of all supplies and equipment. Responsible for ordering, storage and inventory control of all cleaning supplies. Maintains Electrical and Hazmat logs and MSDS documents. As applicable, responsible for issuing, receiving and controlling cash receipts and change funds under custody. Upon end of shift or closing, rings out cash register. Assures the Daily Activity Report (DAR) is completed and certifies cash count of receipts and change funds turned in by individual cashiers. Determines cash shortages or overages by comparing total of cash receipts against cash register readings. Completes the deposit form in accordance with local procedures. Ensures all keys are turned into the lock box and/or cashiers bag. Circulates among the patrons to maintain order. Maintains monthly calendar of current local entertainment events, answers questions concerning community and promotional events within the department. Warns patrons of disorderly behavior or unsafe techniques or practices being utilized. Attempts to resolve customer service problems in a tactful, diplomatic manner. May be required to tactfully remove disruptive patrons from the facility. Upon closure of the facility, completes fire and safety checks, secures all doors, windows, storerooms, etc. Prepares and submits daily report of night operations, to include both minor and serious incidents. This includes equipment breakdown or repairs, leaks, personnel/staffing problems related to work situations and any other information that may affect the operation of the facility and/or management decisions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate must possess: Knowledge of club operations with a minimum of two years related work experience in a food and beverage environment with six months documented supervisory or leader experience. Must possess basic Math skills to perform cash and inventory accountability accurate. Must be a mature individual, who can exercise control over a large group of people to ensure good order and discipline as necessary. Must possess fluent command of the English language and be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be skilled in customer service techniques, tact and good judgment.
