About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Human Resource Specialist in the Transition Center.. Works under the general supervision of HR Supervisor, US Army Transition Center who gives general instructions on separation assignments. Incumbent independently carries out all administrative and technical phases of the work.

Duties

Responsible for the day to day administrative operational support for all assigned Soldiers. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates by setting and adjusting short-term priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work. Give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Direct employees to ensure they understand regulatory guidelines and current operational directives and policies. Assist in the development of performance standards, performance counseling, and appraisals.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying human resources regulations and policies; processing, administering, and advising on military personnel actions such as reassignments, promotions, and performance evaluations; preparing reports or briefings to present to management and supervisors; and providing training to subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: human resources, business administration and management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceManages Human ResourcesPersonnel Action Processing and RecordkeepingWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
