You will serve as a Technician in the Fleet Readiness Division (PD41) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER in Norfolk, VA or Pearl Harbor, HI detachment. Pearl Harbor: A post allowance amount, (otherwise known as: COLA), of 21.17% will be added to the stated salary. Post allowance is subject to change at any time. For additional information, please refer to the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), Chapter 5 Part B.

Duties

You will serve as U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFFC) Fleet Staff Representative for Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division in Norfolk, VA/Pearl Harbor, HI. You will be responsible for technical leadership and expert consultation for integrated combat system ready operation. You will provide technical leadership and be a recognized expert, in integrated combat systems process improvement initiatives to reduce total ownership costs and increase fleet readiness. You will defend and support ideas/proposals, formulate, define, and modify overall objectives and requirements to impact programs. You will provide full spectrum of expert consultation related to in-service support operational, testing and evaluation, maintenance, modernization, and supportability of the integrated combat systems. You will collaborate and influence the alignment of processes between various organizations involved in the end-to-end ship systems support.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NT-04 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalent) or grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing engineering requirements to develop and implement process improvement initiatives for shipboard combat or weapon systems projects to reduce total costs and increase fleet readiness.
