About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, Army Community Services Division. Ft Hood covers a total of 340 square miles and rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas, between Killeen and Copperas Cove.
Duties
Promote awareness of the nature of family violence.
Serve as the primary subject matter expert on all matters involving domestic violence.
Provide command information regarding emerging prevention and treatment issues and trends and results of prevention programs conducted.
Provide crisis intervention, intake and referral for active duty military and family members.
Oversee operation of a 24-hour crisis line.
Identify program resource requirements and provide Family Advocacy Program budget input.
Provide oversight for contractors and inter-service support agreement personnel working in the Family Advocacy Program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Child Care National Agency Check with Written Inquiries CNACI due to regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so
- This position may require occasional travel from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- This position requires working non-standard duty hours, such as overtime, weekends, or on-call status.
- This position requires Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes promoting awareness of family violence prevention programs to include child abuse and domestic violence; publicize services available to deal with family violence problems; and providing crisis intervention, intake and referral services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
