This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the External Affairs Division. As a Lead Public Affairs Specialist, you will develop and execute communication plans by considering such items as the most effective media to use in communicating with target audiences, the appropriate messages for target audiences, and other considerations for effective communication to positively affect target group behavior.
Duties
As a Lead Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Prepare, review and/or edit materials to include general correspondence, Congressional correspondence, press releases, issue papers, briefing materials, talking points, feature articles, op-ed pieces, speeches, brochures, executive presentations, website content, and social media content.
Lead a team of Public Affairs Specialists and contractors in researching, writing, and editing a variety of public affairs materials for senior-level Federal administrators on issues which range in complexity from local tour related matters to national significance such as the technology relating to counterfeit deterrence.
Establish and develop effective relationships with media representatives and public affairs personnel of internal and external groups and develop new communications channels for target audiences.
Lead a team of Public Affairs Specialists to develop and initiate appropriate methods and tools for best message delivery, including the use of written and audio-visual materials.
Lead and coordinate special events, such as tours, ceremonies, media briefings, meetings with private sector groups, and ad hoc advisory committee volunteer organizations, and other federal, state and local government agencies to develop interest in the Bureau's products and activities.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes:
Assisting with designing and creating content for a professional organization's website; AND
Assisting with managing a professional organization's visual information such as videos, digital display systems, graphics, photographs, etc.
