This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, in the External Affairs Division. As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will be managing the division responsible for drafting, reviewing, editing, and approving official communications; planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating broad public information and education programs; coordinating public affairs activities; overseeing all facets of the WCF's Tour & Visitor Center; and creating and managing special events.
Duties
As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Create and manage all special events, ceremonies, press conferences, media briefings and meetings with private sector groups and ad hoc advisory committees, volunteer organizations, and other federal, state, and local government agencies to develop awareness of the Bureau's product and activities.
Prepare and oversee all facets of the WCF's Tour and Visitor Center, which includes a public tour, special VIP tours, retail sales operations and transportation services.
Develop and implement communication projects/plans by considering such items as the most effective media to use, the appropriate messages for target audiences and other considerations for effective communication.
Establish and develop effective relationships with public affairs and media representatives to distribute approved messaging to target audiences.
Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication plans and/or special activities and advise management if efforts should be eliminated or enhanced to improve communication.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiences for this position includes experience:
Leading or overseeing projects or special events including delegating tasks to ensure all phases are complete and in alignment with organizational goals; AND
Handling media relations such as interview requests, press inquiries, media visits, or coordination of on-air interviews; AND
Developing and managing official internal and external communications for an organization; AND
Assisting with developing digital content for an organization (examples may include websites, social media, videos, or digital displays).
