About the Position: This announcement will be used to fill an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist position with the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND). The selected applicant will serve as the senior technical advisor to Joint Project Manager for CBRN Sensors (JPM CBRN S). The NH-04 pay band encompasses grades 14-15 under the General Schedule (GS) system.

Duties

Synchronizes the technical efforts of programs across the portfolio and aligns technical approaches, strategies, plans, and policies to meet Higher Headquarters goals and stakeholder requirements. Facilitates the transition of technology to the end-user, plans for early production, and ensures the sustainability of the product development process. Supervises a multidisciplinary team of technical and operational personnel carrying out projects intensely affected by advances in science, technology and emerging threats. Manages the Tasking Management System by establishing a robust process for the development, execution, and submission of technical documents and briefings. Participates in Product Design Reviews and other technical forums, where technical data will inform programmatic, product, and portfolio decisions. Ensures systems engineering databases are accurate and systems engineering efforts support cost, schedule, and performance goals for a wide range of acquisition programs. Leads digital engineering and digital transformation efforts across the portfolio. Oversees technical test and evaluation activities as well as quality assurance activities for suppliers.

• One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP) and requires a 3-year tenure agreement. Must sign DD Form 2889 (Critical Acquisition Position Service Agreement) and execute, as a condition of employment, a written tenure agreement.

Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions. OR Combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. I have successfully completed at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included the courses specified in A above. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
