About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.

Duties

Responsible for the selection of operations and intelligence data for presentation to the commander, his staff, components and subordinate organizations. Ensure all required system software and hardware updates are installed and up to date in command and control systems. Use the global command and control system-joint (GCCS-J) and associated command and control (C2) systems for the monitoring and display of near-real time ground, air, maritime, missile, and space, tracks for U.S, coalition, and enemy forces. Develop daily operations/intelligence briefings to be delivered to the command. Troubleshoot situational awareness computer programs and network protocols to restore functionality.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position is identified as emergency-essential (E-E).
  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access as a condition of employment.
  • The work of this position may require the employee to work overtime during other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays on an emergency basis
  • This position is subject to uncommon tours of duty and/or shift work.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
