Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB is searching for a Land Mobile Radio Technician, 21 CS (NH-0391-02, GS 5-11 Equivalent).
Description:
Peterson Space Force Base is seeking a qualified and experienced Land Mobile Radio Technician (RF Technician, Field Technician) to program, troubleshoot, repair, align, and maintain communication equipment in the Colorado Springs CO area.
The RF Technician must be able to design, program, install, optimize, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair two-way radio and associated communications equipment & systems including fixed equipment as well as mobile and portable subscriber units (Motorola experience is desired). Successful candidates will be motivated, customer service oriented, highly organized and detail oriented and professional in appearance.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in the technical services field - Motorola land mobile radio experience a plus.
A strong technical aptitude and an ability to grasp concepts and practices quickly
Technical training in the areas of electronics, computers, networking, RF or equivalent work experience (OJT).
Intermediate knowledge of RF test equipment such as Transmission Impairment Test Sets, signal generators, RF service monitors, spectrum analyzers, Site Master, and LAN testers.
Basic Computer and Networking skills.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of telecommunications theories, concepts, principles, practices, procedures, policies, standards and operational requirements.
2. Knowledge of performance characteristics of telecommunications equipment, systems, services, and transmission media to evaluate devices, proposals, and approaches.
3. Knowledge of basic electronics theory and operating principles, the application of existing and planned technology to communications requirements, and equipment interoperability and compatibility.
4. Knowledge of associated methods and techniques such as contracting procedures/legal requirements, cost analyses, and budgets.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to identify, direct, or coordinate actions required in providing needed service.
6. Ability to analyze/apply specialized communication methods and analytical techniques involving telecommunication systems (e.g., systems compatibility, circuits, switches, distribution, satellite linkages, and networking).
Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- PCS / Relocation funding is not available.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- This position is not eligible for telework.
