THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5303P01 and is part of the 174TH ATKW, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR

Duties

As an Airman and Family Readiness Specialist, GS-0301-09, you will serve as the family readiness and support services representative at an ANG Wing and coordinate concurrently with the Force Support Squadron Commander/Human Resource Officer (Director of Personnel (DP)) at each wing, Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST) Family Program Director, NGB Family Programs Office, and US Air Force/Major Command (MAJCOM) Family Readiness Directors. The incumbent provides assistance to the Wing leadership in the development and implementation of a family readiness and support program and provide family readiness assistance at the geographic separated unit(s) (GSU).

Requirements

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance within one year of appointment.
  • The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and if so, an appropriate valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures. Must have experience in the development and implementation of family readiness and support program and provide family readiness assistance at the geographic separated units(s). Must have experience planning individual program activities; identifies and recommends methods of resolving problems; and recommends changes in procedures of programs that affect the individual member and family.
