Duties

You will conduct physical security checks of buildings or facilities during an assigned shift. You will compile evidence in accordance with mandated procedures. You will protect a crime scene to turn over information gathered at the scene of an incident to detectives or investigators. You will control access to secure areas by determining which vehicles or personnel have credentials for entry. You will conduct investigative stops on violators of traffic laws.

  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.

  • Must successfully complete a DoD approved Police Training Academy or equivalent course, e.g. Navy Police Officer Academy; a federal or military police academy; or equivalent law enforcement training
  • Must successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level I Oleoresin Capsicum contamination training (if applicable), and OC refresher training.
  • You will be required to sign a Continuing Service Agreement (CSA) upon completion of required Uniform Police Training Program (UPTP) as required by CNIC policy.
  • Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.
  • Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing law enforcement (LE), physical security (PS), antiterrorism (AT), and force protection (FP) functions; 2) Conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents regarding unusual situations and/or violations of the law; 3) Conducting checkpoints/roadblocks at various locations to reduce criminal activity; 4) Inspecting packages/personal belongings when admitting personnel into controlled areas; and 5) Responding to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws. **NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Must be able to successfully complete the mandated 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) to be qualified to operate motor vehicles (i.e. sedans, cargo trucks, pickup trucks) having gross vehicle weights of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, manual transmissions, and 2 or 4 wheel drive in support of operations and to transport personnel and materials throughout the installation and on public roads. With additional training, the incumbent may be required to qualify on police bicycles and other rough terrain vehicles such as ATVs and snow mobiles. Maintains proficiency for response to: installation perimeter breeches, hostage situations, vehicle borne improvised explosive device (IED), waterborne (IED) and pedestrian borne improvised explosive attacks, active shooter incidents, bomb threats, suspicious packages and other terrorist threats. May be required to respond to other military installations within the region or off installation events when directed by higher authority to a disaster scene or during a national emergency. Shall be required to be CPR certified and utilize a portable heart defibrillator where available. Officers assigned to HSB Crewman operations must be qualified IAW CNICINST 3502.2. As a HSB Crewman, personnel must be qualified IAW NAVEDTRA 43467-1 HSB Operations, the NAVEDTRA 43606, Shore Installation Management Basic Boat Coxswain (SIMBBC) and Crewmember PQS, and NAVEDTRA 43468-A, Shore Training Team Member/Leader. They must also be qualified IAW NAVEDTRA 43466, Security Force Weapons, and OPNAVINST 3591 (series), Small Arms Training and Qualification on all assigned craft's weapons systems, and qualified as a second class swimmer. Due to significant training requirements levied by DoD, SECNAV and OPNAV, incumbent must be trained and qualified to conduct Guardmount and pre/post watch training of other LE personnel before, during and after the assigned shift. Must meet applicable federal and/or state minimum age requirements for the assigned installation. Must qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operator endorsement. Physical Demands: The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, standing, climbing, bending, driving, and lifting/carrying heavy items. In installations with navigable waters, physical exertion may also include swimming. Requires physical stamina, agility and strength to defend themselves, defend others, pursue and apprehend or detain suspects. Officers undergo sustainment training in defensive tactics to include Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) qualification, handcuffing, Taser, and firearms qualifications which require physical strength, skill and stamina. The incumbent must be physically fit and agile in order to pursue persons on foot over/around rough and/or slippery terrain or obstacles and up and down stairs, and to participate as a member of a special reaction or tactics squad in advent of terrorist or hostage situation. Must successfully complete annual agility testing in order to retain position. The incumbent must be capable of: lifting heavy objects, carrying or moving heavy or unwieldy objects, crouching, crawling and kneeling during pursuit, search or investigation and performing first aid. Work Environment: Performs investigations, checks and patrols in varying weather conditions to include high wind and heavy rain as well as cold and snow/ice and under moderately heavy traffic conditions, required to wear protective clothing/use protective equipment during incidents and exercises, and operates vehicles over rough terrain and/or unpaved/unplowed/untreated surfaces. May be exposed to physical attack/bodily injury when apprehending, detaining, or pursuing suspects.
