This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Division of the Comptroller (DOC), Financial Services and Operations Branch. The supervisor is Erikka LeGrandThis position is Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208. This position is not subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure or security ownership restriction reporting requirements
Duties
The successful candidate will serve as an accountant in the Division of the Comptroller, Financial Services and Operations Branch, performing general accounting duties consistent with the functional responsibilities of the branch within the Division. Responsible for supporting the financial mission of the agency through effective management of financial resources. Responsible for the identification and recommendation of accounting policy, procedures, and practices for NRC in conformity with Federal accounting standards. Responsible for reconciliation of accounts payable and providing assistance on accounting and finance related matters. Serves as an expert in accounts payable accounting activities.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and processes of accounting or financial management.
Demonstrated ability in analyzing and reviewing financial data for accuracy, identifying discrepancies, interpreting the implications of these discrepancies, developing recommendations, and ensuring the necessary corrections are made.
Knowledge of computer systems, data management systems and software.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and present programmatic and financial information, ideas, advice, and recommendations in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience in using Federal Accounting and Reporting Systems both internal and external, as well as software applications useful in data research and analysis.

Education
All candidates must have knowledge of accounting principles and standards as evidenced by a four-year degree in accounting or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (the 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law), OR an equivalent combination of college-level education (24 semester hours in accounting courses), training that provided professional accounting knowledge and accounting experience.
