You will serve as an ASSISTANT INSPECTOR GENERAL in the OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will plan, oversee, or conduct IG investigations received through the IG Hotline that relate to fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, related improprieties, or of concern to the NAVFAC Atlantic.
You will maintain independence and objectivity, ensuring conclusions are supported by facts and the required preponderance of evidence.
You will analyze large amounts of complex, sometimes ambiguous data, from authorized data sources and make determinations/conclusions that are logically supported/confirmed by relevant evidence.
You will draft investigative products, such as reports of investigation, preliminary inquiries, investigative plans, outline of proofs, and other relevant documents that meet qualitative standards established by NAVINSGEN.
You will liaise with external audit agencies and coordinate audit information requests for audits conducted by external audit agencies on the NAVFAC Atlantic enterprise.
You will be responsible for the effective operation of the Command Hotline Program.
You will receive and process hotline complaints under the regulatory guidance dictated by DoD OIG, the Office of the Naval Inspector General (NAVINSGEN), and NAVFAC IG.
You will detect deficiencies, improprieties, or inefficiencies and provide recommendations to correct conditions that adversely impact mission accomplishment.
You will perform and facilitate internal management control reviews, audits, and other reviews to ensure compliance with established directives.
You will provide authoritative technical advice and assistance in the IG field throughout NAVFAC Atlantic enterprise.
You will conduct complaint analysis to determine an appropriate course of action, i.e., identifying allegations, those who committed the wrongdoing, identifying the standards violated, issuing notifications, recording complaints in the NIGHTS system.
You will coordinate and/or facilitate input to the annual command Certification Statement for the Integrated Risk Management Program (IRM) for Commander, NAVFAC Atlantic.
You will assist NAVFAC Atlantic in executing NAVFAC IG programs throughout the AOR.
You will oversee, execute, facilitate, and assist in the conduct and reporting of command inspections of NAVFAC Atlantic and its subordinate units.
You will monitor and submit IG products for all programs within directed timelines.
You will ensure the integrity and independence of the Office of the Inspector General.

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- The incumbent must complete and maintain investigator certification in accordance with NAVINSGEN and NAVFAC requirements. Must be able to successfully complete the NAVINSGEN Basic Investigations Course within the first year of selection.
- The incumbent in the position is subject to random drug tests.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, conducting, and reporting complex investigations in a time-constrained environment that effectively addresses fraud, waste, and misuse of government resources that may be multi-jurisdictional; 2) Compiling and analyzing large amounts of data to develop relevant conclusions in a time constrained environment; 3) Monitoring and shepherding findings and recommendations from command inspections, audits and reviews;4) Operating and utilizing the Navy IG Hotline Tracking System (NIGHTS) or other defense IG Hotline system; and 5) Developing coherent, fact/evidence based reports of investigation that address all complaint matters and effectively provides clear and concise conclusions understandable by a diverse audience of technical and nontechnical professionals.
