The primary purpose of this position is: To provide business process management and medical administrative support/oversight to Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) clinical teams and their assigned beneficiaries.
Duties
Assists the Group Practice Manager (GPM) with the development, implementation, and tracking of short-range and long-range goals for the PCMH team's business plans and objectives as they relate to the Military Treatment Facility's (MTF's) goals and objectives.
Assists the MTF's Access Manager (Senior GPM or the GPM assigned to their clinic) by overseeing the PCMH team's access plans and goals.
Serves as the principal PCMH Team office manager performing clerical, office automation support, and administrative duties to ensure operations run efficiently.
Oversees data quality management for PCMH clinical teams.

- Collegiate level coursework in health care administration/management, information technology, data management or business is strongly preferred
- Attendance at the AFMS PCMH, AFMS Primary Care Optimization, and GPM Course will be encouraged for the incumbent
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained and maintained per AF guidance
- Medical Administration and Medical Terminology certifications desired
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Medical Support Assistance Series 0679
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include: knowledge of PCMH principles, practices, evidence-based guidelines, and procedures necessary to provide and document effective patient care; knowledge of standardized processes and procedures for evaluating medical support operations business practices; knowledge and use of medical terminology to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports IAW Medical standards; skill in basic data gathering methods to collect factual data and use basic analytical techniques to review the data; ability to utilize health information technology and computer systems in order to coordinate support for medical staff. (NOTE: This same experience must be well-described in the application/resume that you complete and submit in addition to answering this questionnaire.)
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of PCMH principles, practices, evidence-based guidelines, and procedures necessary for evaluating medical support business practices, operations and to provide and document effective patient care.
2. Knowledge of common and well-established medical record procedures and regulations to include administration, filing, researching, handling, securing and completing sufficient to provide properly filed and completed patient records.
3. Knowledge and use of medical terminology to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports, code and maintain medical records IAW Medical standards.
4. Skill in basic data gathering methods to collect factual data and use basic analytical techniques to review the data.
5. Ability to utilize health information technology and computer systems in order to coordinate support for medical staff; and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
