Duties
This position is located within the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Office of Renewable Energy Programs (OREP). This position will be located in Washington, D.C. This position will report to the Chief of Staff for OREP.
At the full performance level of GS-11, this position will support a senior executive (SES) and Chief of Staff and requires expertise in administrative areas including, but not limited to, scheduling, travel, correspondence, training and ability to work independently in areas such as human resources, records management and procurement.
The incumbent will:
1) Plan, coordinate and manage the calendar and schedule for the SES.
2) Provide expert travel support including making reservations and preparing authorizations and vouchers.
3) Support the development of briefing materials for internal and external use. This includes formatting and editing PowerPoint slides and Word documents.
4) Administer correspondence activities including processing mail, tracking assignments in the document tracking system, drafting responses and reviewing outgoing correspondence for correct format, grammar and coordination of facts.
5) Manage timekeeping, track human resource actions and coordinate onboarding for unit.
6) Serve as the File Custodian and coordinate with the Renewable Energy Records Program.
7) Prepare reports and conduct research and analysis.
8) Hold a government purchase card and provide supplies and equipment for staff. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisor permission.
9) Support the SES and Chief of Staff with administrative duties.
Salary GS-11, Step 1: $82,764.00 - GS-11, Step 10: $107,590.00 per annum
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the specialized experience for the series to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1) supporting a senior executive in managing and optimizing their time and schedule
2) utilizing an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Federal travel processes and requirements to coordinate travel activities for a Senior Executive
3) gathering facts and analyzing data, problems and/or issues
4) meeting all requirements for purchase card transactions; and
5) utilizing a document tracking system.

A. Education- Substitution of Specialized Experience for Education if you have achieved:
Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree or
Three (3) full of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or
LL.M., if related

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Only education in excess of the first two years of progressively higher level graduate education toward a Ph.D. or the equivalent doctorate degree may be used toward this combination (example: 2.5 years in a Ph.D. program (50%) plus 6 months of specialized experience (50%)=100%).
