About the Position: This position is located at HQ, US Army North, Assistant Chief of Staff, G3, Operations Division, Fort Sam Houston, TX. This time-limited assignment is also being announced under Job Opportunity Announcement FCFR248989073446.

Duties

Work in coordination with Operations and Plans Staff. When tasked, deploys forward as a liaison representing USARNORTH on all Aviation matters. Coordinate with interagency in executing personnel recovery of DoD military, civilians, and contractors while participating in US sponsored military activity or mission. Coordinate and synchronize search and rescue (SAR) missions in identified mission support; this includes both operations and exercise planning within NORTHCOM AOR Serve as key member of USARNORTH Phase I and Phase II Reintegration Team; develops reintegration plans, procedures, and coordinates training and execution of reintegration and Post Isolation Support Activities (PISA) events Serve as an Emergency Essential civilian in the capacity of a Personnel Recovery Specialist for Department of Defense military personnel, civilians, and contractors, who participate in exercises and missions. Serve as the principal Aviation Operations Specialist in USARNORTH G-3/7 in both Main Command Post and Contingency Command Posts. Advise the Reintegration Team Chief, Current Operations, and G3/7 Directorate on personnel recovery plans and execution. Develop, coordinate, and conduct current Homeland Defense and Civil Support operations staff actions which support command planning and operational commitments.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • One-year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) experience with Aviation flight operations and administrative procedures; (2) experience reviewing aviation policy and procedures for aviation operations; and (3) experience conducting program and administer projects related to operational and exercise planning requirements to develop planning documents for use during contingency or emergency situations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
