Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of Office of Field Operations human capital efforts resolving complex problems related to position management, staffing and placement, performance management, awards, and worker's compensation. This position starts at a salary of $120,246.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,323.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include: Analyzing the Table of Organization and handling all staffing issues including implementing personnel actions (SF-52s) via the CBP Human Resources Business Engine for a large organization. Providing expert-level, written advice to management while overseeing functional areas such as: awards, position exchanges, human resource collective bargaining agreement issues, worker's compensation, performance management, pay and benefits. Researching staffing policies, programs, initiatives, and recommending changes to improve human capital services provided. Consulting with national headquarters staff on a wide range of administrative concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical methods to address technical issues or problems.- Analyzing, formulating, recommending, and implementing human capital projects.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing analytical insight into the table of organization for assigned ports across the Field Office Assisting in maintaining the Field Office Table of Organization and ensuring positions are accurately recorded and that on board data is kept up to date Assisting leadership in the development of Office policy and recommending changes to improve service Coordinating with the CBP Hiring Center to resolve processing, recruitment, reporting and other staffing issues NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 05/17/2024. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
