This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Positions under 5 USC 9902 (b)(2) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Maintain law and order and preserve peace.
Respond to and/or investigate complaints of minor to complex incidents.
Patrol the installation via motorized vehicles, walking, or bicycling.
Gather and analyze facts, take statements, perform traffic law enforcement.
Make arrests and enforce Federal and State laws.
Perform procedural booking of law violators.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position is subject to compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification thereafter.
- This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
- This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Minimum Qualifications GS-6 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
(1) Preventing and responding to emergency situations; and
(2) Controlling access or securing an area.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
(1) Conducting traffic law enforcement patrol;
(2) Enforcing traffic codes; and
(3) Exercising arrest authority.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
