You will serve as a Fire Protection Inspector of NVSUPPACTMID SOUTH.

Duties

You will implement a fire prevention and fire protection enforcement program to ensure the capability to perform inspections, investigations, and surveys. You will evaluate engineering plans and specifications on new and modification construction structures. You will develop and conduct training courses for military personnel, dependents, home care providers, civilian employees, and contractors on fire safety practices and procedures. You will inspect buildings or storage areas to verify identified violations are corrected.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Inspects building and facilities to identify fire hazards and implement corrective actions; 2) Identifies hazardous conditions or practices, evaluates degree of hazard involved, and determines appropriate action to be taken; 3) Develops and conducts training course on fire safety practices and procedures (i.e. fixed and portable fire protection equipment, station fire prevention regulations, special hazardous operations/conditions, home and/ or work practices, etc.) for military and civilian employees, contractors, and dependents; and 4) Provides guidance to supervisors, employees, and the general populace on fire safety and fire protection. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Awareness, Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Instructor I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
