The Program Support Assistant position is located in the Medical Care Line (MCL) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The incumbent serves as the Administrative Support/Program Support to Medical Care Line Sections. Incumbent performs work of a clinical office support nature, which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities.
Duties
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information.
Monitors patient-access performance metrics, assures timely scheduling and access to care provided by the section.
Assists the senior management and attending staff in the educational endeavors of the program to include performing extensive literature searches, preparing Power Point presentations and assembling lecture material.
Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track dates on items such as progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, correspondence, etc.
Performs a variety of administration functions and assignments to include timekeeping, patient scheduling, answering phones, and check-in desk(s) for coverage.
Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information and resource materials/personnel to support the policy development.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the Agency.
Telework: A supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes, but are not limited to: experience using automated systems to input or retrieve data; experience performing administrative and clerical work in an office setting; experience compiling data and preparing reports; ability to communicate with customers and answer various questions; experience entering and editing data in spreadsheets.
