About the Position: This position is located with the 404th Army Field Support Brigade, AFSBn, Maintenance Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington
Duties
Performs precision handwork to finish, fit, and assemble machined parts.
Uses a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as taper attachments, chucks, vise, thread adapter, etc. to complete work
Performs machining and welding duties in support of Shop Operation functions.
Performs work from technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
Performs welding duties using a variety of welding processes.
Maintains dimensional accuracy through use of precision measuring instruments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position required the incumbent to possess or obtain and Maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) background check.
- This position required the incumbent to successfully pass a pre-employment and annual physical.
- This position required the incumbent to travel (TDY) u to 5% of the times.
- This position required the incumbent to work both planned and unscheduled overtime to include weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Machinist without more than normal supervision. Perform common Machinist duties including using a variety of welding processes. I can repair, modify, and fabricate all types of metal and alloy parts. I have the ability to finish fit and assemble machined parts. I determine work procedures, machines, tools, equipment and attachments to use and determine coolants, lubricants or abrasives to use. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and on projects that require frequent standing, climbing up and down ladders, stooping, bending, reaching and working in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing as much as 70 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work indoors in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. May work outdoors in all weather conditions. Shop area is usually noisy. There is danger from flying metal chips abrasive particles, hot metal, and cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces and moving machine parts. Work may involve contact with lubricants, coolants and abrasive compounds. Exposed to the possibility of electric shocks. Exposed to grease, odors, smoke fumes, infrared and ultraviolet rays. Wears protective equipment and clothing.
