Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Trade Remedy Law Enforcement Directorate (TRLED), Forced Labor Division, and the Civil Enforcement Division (CED) located in Washington DC.

Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Trade, will allow you to utilize your expertise in trade analysis to develop strategic approaches, innovations, and procedures to effectively implement trade policies and programs which affect critical and complex trade activities. This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $181,216.00 (GS-14 Step 10). Typical duties may include: Supervising subordinate employees engaged in international trade assignments. Establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of CBP personnel, representatives of DHS, and all levels of trade. Advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Identifying risk areas and developing a consistent strategy with the various disciplines and trade components. Formulating strategy, identifying the impact on the mission, and assessing the validity of sources.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Recommending and implementing solutions to current and potential problems through the development of policies and procedures as they relate to the ability to enforce trade laws. Providing trade policy advice and assistance to domestic and foreign government agencies. Developing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating trade issues. Providing strategic planning and execution of major stakeholder outreach events and communications. Providing strategic management, tracking and resolution of trade operational issues identified through collaboration efforts with major stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 05/16/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
