Duties

You will drive one or more trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks or dump trucks which typically have a GVW between 26,000 pounds and 32,000 pounds, on public roads at highway speeds. You will operate refueling vehicles (unitized tanker type) to refuel equipment, forklifts, and other motorized mobile equipment to transport supplies, materials, equipment and tools or to tow equipment. You will determine the manner and sequence of loading cargo to achieve load balance and adequate protection for fragile items. You will ensure that passengers follow safety rules and regulations, assist medical personnel in loading, unloading and securing patients when driving patient transportation vehicles, and check ID cards or other authorization for shuttle passengers. You will load, unload, and place supplies, material, and equipment in confined places such as narrow warehouse aisles, box cars, flat cars, trucks, and trailers. You will operate electric, LPG, or diesel powered Fork Lift Trucks capable of lifting loads weighing 10,000 pounds or more. You will perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, and cleaning and washing vehicles, and complete trip tickets and preventive maintenance records.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to POSSESS and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license CDL Class B with Hazmat, Tank, and P endorsements. NOTE: Failure to provide this with your application will result in an automatic disqualification.
  • You must obtain and maintain a Forklift License within 6 months of employment as directed by 29 CFR 1910.178.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position has a minimum age requirement of 21. You must be 21 years of age or older prior to start of employment.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including operating a combination of transportation, construction or other mobile equipment and stationary or portable industrial equipment, machinery, tools, or utility systems.
