You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR LEADER in the Assistant Chief of Staff, Logistics, Southwest Region Fleet Transportation of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.
Duties
You will lead other Motor Vehicle Operators in the following grades: 1-WG-08, 2-WG-06, l-WG-5, 2-WG-07
You will pass on to other workers the instructions received from the supervisor and Dispatcher to get started (by assigning tasks to be performed).
You will ensure that-there is enough work to keep individuals busy.
You will drive one or more trucks, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, refueling trucks, tractor trailer with semi-trailer or dump trucks.
You will determine the manner and sequence of loading cargo to achieve load balance and adequate protection for fragile items.
You will operate motor coaches to transport passengers on long distance trips. Buses are driven over public roads at highway speeds.
You will perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, and cleaning and washing vehicles.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Must possess a current Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Vehicles "P", and Tank Vehicle/Hazardous Materials Combination "X" endorsement.
- Must possess a current Forklift certification; or, I am willing and able to attain a Forklift certification within one year of selection.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
