This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations, Assistant Commandant for Intelligence & Criminal Investigations, Coast Guard Cryptologic Group (CGCG), Ft. Meade, MD.

Duties

You will serve as an Intelligence Operations Specialist with the CGCG at the National Security Agency (NSA), Ft. Meade, Maryland. You will also serve as the CGCG’s Technical Director, staff advisor, and subject matter expert for Cryptology/Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), addressing a wide variety of issues pertaining to the compliance, application and integration of Coast Guard (CG) SIGINT/cryptology capabilities, requirements, and policies within the NSA.Typical work assignments include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Selective Service Registration is required.
  • Must be able to complete a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • This position is subject to pre-appointment polygraph testing.
  • A Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph is required.

Qualifications

At the GS-14 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skill, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work such as:  Making recommendations to senior executives/senior management, and offering guidance in the development of intelligence requirements, intelligence program of analysis, and intelligence production and dissemination plans particularly as it relates to intelligence information sharing with stakeholders and coordination of such information sharing for the organization; Collaborating and closely coordinating with intelligence, industry, and other agency security and law enforcement community partners to ensure comprehensive understanding, informed analysis, planning, reporting and information sharing; Providing broad strategic and operational guidance to advance and sustain cryptologic near, mid, and long-range objectives; Developing, projecting and revising long-range estimates within the intelligence infrastructure. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
