About the Position: The incumbent of this position will serve as an Inspector General (IG) conducting inspections, investigations and inquiries, rendering assistance to resolve issues, and correct deficiencies which impact mission support and soldier and command readiness. Incumbent is required to lead inspections, to conduct assistance, to lead investigative inquiries and investigations, and to teach and train Army standards.

Duties

This list of duties is not all-inclusive: Lead, plan and perform inspections of TRADOC operations and Command management functions. Assist in the development of inspection plans, pre-inspection planning and analysis of on-site inspections and review of inspection findings. Perform inspection and investigative activities to include interviews and discussions with senior managers of other governmental or non-governmental agencies to determine the validity of concerns raised. Review and analyze policies, methods, and systems/procedures as they relate of efficiency, effectiveness, economy of operation and state of discipline and morale. Review and analyze records of previous inspections to identify recurring deficiencies; assembles trend data ; and makes recommendations for corrective actions to preclude future instances. Conduct entrance/exit briefings with unit commanders and responsible management officials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid T3 (Secret) security clearance.
  • This position requires an Inspector General Database Screening consisting of a pre-employment and an annual periodic reinvestigation for this position.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete a three-week U.S. Army Inspector General Course within a time frame specified by management.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain US Army Inspector General School certificate in accordance with (IAW) Army Regulation (AR) 20-1.
  • In cumbent must take the lnspector General 's Oath of Office.
  • Incumbent must recertify as an Army Inspector General every five (5) years by attending sustainment training IAW Army Regulation 20-1.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) for business for up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in investigations of various types of sensitive complaints to appropriately resolve them; 2) Prepared written findings describing problem areas discovered during the Inspector General Inspection; and 3) Provided technical guidance on various types of inspections of activities, such as general, special, and follow-up inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Investigative ReportingPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). NOTE: Applicants must meet all Time-in-Grade requirements and experience requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
