About the Position: This position is located at TRADOC, Inspector General Office, Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, Virginia is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local Transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, York County, Gloucester, Suffolk, and Smithfield.

Duties

Serves as a Detailed Inspector General (IG) for the Headquarters, United States Army Training and Doctrine, Command, (TRADOC). Leads, plans and performs inspections of TRADOC operations and Command management functions. Responsible to assist in the development of inspection plans, pre-inspection planning and analysis of on-site inspections and review of inspection findings. Inspect and investigative activities to include interviews and discussions with senior managers of other governmental or non-governmental agencies to determine the validity of concerns raised. Personally, plans and conducts thorough, complex, and sensitive investigations and inquiries.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 40% of the time.
  • Incumbent will be subject to a database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigations.
  • The Incumbent must be able to attend and graduate the US Army Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with AR 20-1.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • **Failure to complete any of the Conditions of Employment will result in removal from the position of Inspector General.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Investigative ReportingPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
