The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the clerk/administrative support position for United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Family Programs Flight including file maintenance, payroll, reservation system maintenance, financial record keeping, enrollment, and visitor greeting.
Duties
Maintains files and records. Updates and purges permanent records and waiting lists quarterly.
Provides information about the organization, functions, activities, and personnel.
Uses a variety of types of software to produce final products. Uses appropriate software to complete financial reports, payroll, and food program records in a and accurate manner.
Enrolls children in center programs and checks patrons into centers.
Computes, collects, consolidates, records and deposits fees from two Child Development Centers. Performs other duties for continuous mission support.

- Must be knowledgeable of all program requirements, computer systems, cash registers, time cards, and other office equipment.
- Must be capable ·of communicating effectively and courteously with patrons even under stressful conditions.
- Must have or complete requirements for First Aid, CPR, TB tine, and Food Handlers training.
- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF).
- IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs. MCF which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
- A pre-employment physical examination with a renewal at least every 3 years
- This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". This position is a child care/ youth services position subject to background checks in accordance with Public Law PL 101-647
- A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience performing a full range of standard clerical assignments such as maintaining records, lists, recurring reports and files in accordance with office plan; using various software to create, copy, edit and print a variety of standardized documents and financial reports; program enrollment, ensuring documents are produced timely and in proper format with accuracy; monitoring sign in/out procedures, providing appropriate information and answering questions concerning types and availability of child care programs; accurately computes and collects, records payments, posts accounts and balances records.

EDUCATION: 4 years above high school - This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of current directives and requirements in order to provide clerical support for filing, posting publications, preparing forms, reports, and correspondence, and organizing the clerical and administrative operations.
Knowledge of early childhood development principles, concepts and governing administrative instruction and policies.
Knowledge of money-handling procedures and analysis of fee collection procedures.
Skill in communicating effectively with adults and children, individually and in groups, both orally and in writing.
Ability to learn computer equipment programs.
Ability to maintain accurate financial data and records for, budget tracking, individual patron billing records, and etc.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214,
Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position. The certification memo must originate from the member's military service branch on official letterhead and contain the following:

- Signature by, or by direction of the adjutant, personnel office, unit commander, or higher headquarters commander.
