You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Recruitment & Placement/OA) in the Staffing and Recruitment Department of OCHR SILVERDALE OPERATIONS CENTER.

Duties
You will provide advice and guidance on personnel action processing to all members of the team.
You will assist the branch head with matters related to processing the full range of personnel actions from onboarding new hires to separations.
You will mentor junior staff members on building positive and constructive working relationships with internal and external customers.
You will resolve complex processing issues and help staff with unusual actions.
You will keep the branch head informed of emerging issues and making recommendations for resolution and improvement.
You will ensure personnel and payroll information is properly recorded in both the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) and the Defense Civilian Pay System (DCPS).
You will verify pay and personnel data by reviewing reports, personnel actions, and source documents.
You will review reports (e.g. WGI) to determine if preventative/corrective actions are required.
You will review request for Personnel Actions (RPAs) to determine specific action required and/or requested.
You will verify data, resolve conflicting information, and request additional information or documentation (as needed) by contacting the HRO, hiring managers, or OCHR Silverdale personnel.
You will modify previously used announcement to ensure all information is clearly and concisely presented to potential candidates and is in compliance with regulatory or procedural requirements.
You interpret and applies qualification standards to determine basic qualifications are met for external or internal recruitment or placement actions.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector researching and applying knowledge of Human Resources (HR) rules and procedures to provide personnel support functions (e.g. maintaining personnel files, and HR documents; explaining allowances, entitlements, and overseas return rights; setting pay in various pay systems; ensuring the accuracy of employee records, pay, benefits, and other personnel data maintained by the HR office), and providing advice and guidance on personnel actions and processing.
