About the Position: This position is located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Duties

Develops and implements policies, instructions, guidance, and programs for physical security. Evaluates the effectiveness of the existing security practices, implements control requirements, procedures, and facilities that are needed. Performs surveys of new/existing facilities to identify critical/vulnerable areas. Ensures that all personnel are aware of new security requirements applicable to them and their work areas. Prepare appropriate documents in connection with employee suspensions and other disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access with SCI. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 pounds may be required.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying security principles, concepts and/or methodologies of functional areas of security including information, automation, physical, or operations security; researching regulations and applying specific guidance to security programs; and preparing and maintaining required security documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management, or Physical Security Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalOperations SecurityPhysical SecuritySecurity Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
