This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Conduct investigations to apprehend persons committing crime Safeguard evidence to assure accountability Gather information to develop leads Analyze data to develop case information

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
  • This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully graduate from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a computer in fulfilling reporting requirements.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Interpreting and applying basic laws and regulations and law enforcement operations; (2) Enforcing a wide range of law enforcement activities such as traffic codes and procedures; and (3) Performing criminal investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
